In traditional Chinese culture, dumplings are a good-luck food. Eating dumplings at the beginning of winter has the meaning of welcoming winter and storing energy. In the north of China, dumplings are eaten on this day, and there is a proverb that says, “When the winter solstice arrives, eat dumplings”; in the south of China, dumplings are wrapped and eaten to symbolize reunion.
